Kawasaki FX1000V Oil Change Procedure

Kawasaki recommended oil change procedure.

Steps 1 - 4: Oil Change

Change oil every 100 hours or 1 year, whichever comes first.

  1. Run the engine to warm oil.
  2. Be sure the engine (equipment) is on level surface.
  3. Stop the engine.
  4. Remove the oil drain plug and drain the oil into a suitable container while engine is warm.
WARNING
Hot engine oil can cause severe burns. Allow engine temperature to drop from hot to warm level before draining and handling oil.
Steps 5 - 7: Oil Change
  1. Install the oil drain plug.
  2. Remove the oil gauge (dipstick) and refill with fresh good quality engine oil (See FUEL AND OIL RECOMMENDATIONS chapter in Engine Operators manual).
  3. Check the oil level (see PREPARATION chapter in Engine Operators manual).
Steps 1 - 4: Oil Filter Change
  • Change the oil filter every 200 hours of operation.
WARNING
Hot engine oil can cause severe burns. Allow engine temperature to drop from hot to warm level before draining and handling oil.
  1. Drain the engine oil into a suitable container.
NOTE
Before removing the oil filter, place suitable pan under filter connection.
  1. Rotate the oil filter counterclockwise to remove it.
  2. Coat a film of clean engine oil on the seal of the new filter.
  3. Install new filter, rotating it clockwise until the seal contacts the mounting surface. Then rotate the filter 2/3 turn more by hand.
Steps 5 - 7: Oil Filter Change
  1. Add engine oil as specified. (see FUEL AND RECOMMENDATIONS in Engine Operators manual.)
  2. Run the engine for about 3 minutes, stop the engine, and check any oil leakage around the filter.
  3. Add oil to compensate for oil level drop due to oil filter capacity (see PREPARATION chapter of Engine Operators manual).
WARNING
Engine oil is a toxic substance. Dispose of used oil properly. Contact your local authorities for approved disposal methods or possible recycling.
