Select the issue in order to troubleshoot the clutch:

1. Do you have good battery voltage?

11.5 - 13.5 volts is required for proper operation.

4. Conduct a ground test at the starter motor by checking for continuity to confirm a good ground wire for the cranking circuit.

5. Is battery voltage present at Key Switch, Terminal B?

5a. Check continuity for all wiring from battery to key switch. Replace harness or fix damaged wire if found.

6. Is battery voltage present at key switch, Terminal S when cranking?

6a. Isolate Key Switch and test for continuity from Terminal B to S in Cranking position? Replace key switch if continuity is not present.

7. Test for good battery voltage at Terminal 3 of PTO switch while cranking engine.

7a. If battery voltage is not present, conduct a continuity test of brown/yellow wire from Key switch to PTO Switch. If continuity is not present, fix the wire or replace the harness.

8. Test for good battery voltage at Terminal 9 of PTO switch while cranking engine.

Do you have good battery voltage at Terminal 9?

8a. If battery voltage is not present, disconnect the PTO switch and test for continuity from Terminal 3 and 9 with the switch disengaged. If no continuity is present, replace the PTO switch.

9. Test for good battery voltage at Terminal 3 of Brake Switch while cranking engine?

Do you have good battery voltage at Terminal 3?

9a. If good battery voltage is not present, conduct a continuity test on the brown/yellow wire from the PTO switch to the Brake switch. If continuity is not present, fix the wire or replace the harness.

10. Test for good battery voltage at Terminal 4 of Brake switch while cranking the engine.

Do you have good battery voltage at Terminal 4?

10a. If good battery voltage is not present, disconnect the Brake switch and test for continuity from Terminals 3 and 4 with the button held in. If no continuity is present, replace the brake switch.

11. Test for good battery voltage at the Start Relay while the engine is cranking. Pin 85 or Terminal T39.

11a. If good battery voltage is not present, check for continuity of the brown/yellow wire from the start relay to the Brake switch. If continuity is not present, fix the wire or replace the harness.

12. Test for good battery voltage at Pin 30 of the Start Relay while the engine is cranking.

Do you have good battery voltage at Pin 30?

12a. If good battery voltage is not present, remove the relay from the fuse block and conduct a resistance test for Pin 85-86. If resistance is not within approximately 85-100Ω, replace the Start Relay.

13. Test for good battery voltage at S Terminal of the Starter Solenoid on the engine while the engine is cranking.

Do you have good battery voltage at S Terminal?

13a. If good battery voltage is not present, test for continuity on the brown/white wire from the Starter Solenoid on the Start Relay. If continuity is not present, complete continuity testing to isolate failure on engine or machine harness. Repair or replace as needed.

14. Test for good battery voltage at the power cable connection on the Starter Solenoid.

Do you have good battery voltage at the power cable connection?

14a. If good battery voltage is not present, test for continuity on the power cable from the starter solenoid to the positive terminal on the battery. If good voltage is not present, replace the power cable.
